So We're Sticking Around After All
|
After our initial run during December and January I think it's pretty safe to say we'll be sticking with SWTOR. We've all left our former games now and are having a blast in The Old Republic.
What's particularly savory with this game is not only its amazing story (which makes us all want to play every class right up to 50) but its casual-friendly accessibility. With groups of 2s and 4s a lot can be done in game and we're doing it all!
We do plan on hitting operations once we have enough at 50, so if you've been on the fence about coming back to join us - come on over! We're on the Rubat Crystal server playing the Republic side. You know how to find us.

SWTOR!
No plans on a big organized guild here. Mac's still playing EverQuest as his main game, and everyone else sounds to be planning on SWTOR semi-casual anyway. Raids can be done with eight, so we really don't need many people at all. Open to friends as always.
I did renew our subscription here on this site to kill the ads and give us a vent server to use. Apart from that - no big changes.
Server, vent, alignment info and the like can be found in the forums. See yas in game! |

The Big Move
|
Just to keep everyone up to date:
This site is clearly no longer being paid for, so you'll see ads. If it keeps being used it will stay up. Otherwise Guildomatic will shut it down after a certain period of inactivity.
So where is everyone?
Mac, Xav, Ex, True, Zolz, Gate, Klue, Vubbers, and a few others (sorry if I missed you) have moved back to EverQuest 1 on the Fippy Darkpaw server (time locked progression - basically classic EQ, with expansion unlocks roughly every 3 months). They are in the guild Ferocity, which can be found here.
Some others are playing other games, like WoW, EVE, Rift, etc. Many SoD/AEers can be found at AgonysEnd.org. |

Aight, so it's been like a decade since the last update. My bad. I suck. What do you want me to say?
Project 1999 was hella fun. But inevitably, it had to peter out at some point. We're in a new era now where it's hard to keep our interest. And by "our" I mean "my." I still think P99 was by far one of the best things that's come our way since... well, 1999. But let's be honest here. The old world of EQ gets a bit stagnant after a while with no expansions, and there is a TON of other stuff out there to draw our attention away nowadays. That wasn't the case in 1999. EQ was it. Unless you wanted to play Asheron's Call or Ultima Online. And then you were just weird.
I guess my main reason for quitting P99 was because there are no guarantees. Sean "Rogean" is a friend of mine, and I know he and the team are committed to the game, but still... we all know how life changes rapidly without warning, and I just couldn't see myself getting deep into a game that could disappear at a moment's notice. Not that it will, but it's always a risk with a private project.
So what has been filling my time? The usual suspects of LotRO, EQ2, WoW and various betas. But with Guild Wars 2 on the horizon I decided it's high time I check it out and get to know it. I couldn't have made a better choice.
This is not your typical MMOG. Sure, it has all the elements that make a good MMO, but it's got so many quirks of its own that it really stands out as its own beast. I like it. A lot.
When I posted in our forums that I was checking it out I expected little to no response. I play a lot of games, and I switch games weekly. But the response has actually surprised me. Seems many of you own and love the game too. So it wasn't hard to decide that I'll be dedicating a lot of my time to this game over the next few months.
I'll still be playing EQ2 and some other stuff on the side, as I'm inclined to do, but Guild Wars has now officially made its way into my regular play schedule. It's fantastic, and I can't wait to uncover more of it. As always, if you wanna join, visit the forums and post and we'll get you hooked up.

Yup, we've gone back to 1999.
Suckers for punishment, a few of us have set up shop again in EverQuest. This time though, it's EQ from 1999. How is this possible? Project 1999. This server has reverted back to the way things were at EQ's launch. And it's done very well. The game feels very much like it did in '99. All the old quests, mobs and mechanics have returned. It's truly a great thing.
It's surprising how addictive the game still is in that form. Ok, if you're an MMOG youngin' and WoW was your first MMO game, you're probably not going to have much fun. If you're like us though, and have been playing these games for a decade (or longer), this iteration is a real treat. Levels finally mean something again. You need to work with others to progress, or even level up for the most part. What you earn is an achievement and memorable, not some lame ass purple reward you got from just logging on.
The community's pretty good. People are, for the most part, respectful and helpful. PUGs abound and the players in them are good. Community is important as is keeping your reputation in tact.
I didn't know if I'd be able to play it again for long when we started up. But I'll tell you, this game is far more addictive than anything else I've played in the last six years, and I've played a lot. This is a return to a game with actual challenge and not some online Karaoke game where everyone hits the same macros at the same time and /cheers after 30 minutes because they beat the "epic" content.
I know that last comment is probably gonna get some of yas insulted a bit, but c'mon. You all remember those days. It was a hard life, but it was fun, and it was much more rewarding.
Anyway, if you're looking for some retro fun and a hell of a good time, check it out. It will take more of your time than today's MMOGs, so beware. Agony's End has been formed on the new server, so look us up. |
